"Food For Profit": The New Documentary on the Livestock Industry in Europe
“Food For Profit” is the result of a five-year investigation conducted by journalist Giulia Innocenzi into the links between the European Parliament and the livestock industry funded with 387 billion euros. Co-directed by Innocenzi and Pablo D’Ambrosi, the film premiered at the European Parliament in Brussels in February of this year. It is a film that features the participation of international experts in the agricultural industry, some have already dubbed it ‘the European Cowspiracy’.
D’Ambrosi said: “Europeans think that the meat and dairy they consume is of high quality, essentially different from the cheap meat that Americans or Chinese eat. In Food For Profit, we show that there is actually no difference, in fact, 90% of the meat consumed in Europe comes from factory farms”.
The livestock industry received a large part of the almost 400 billion euros of taxpayers’ money, “disguised within the Green Deal”. “This pact – D’Ambrosi continues – is anything but green, instead it finances large agricultural groups. The trick is to divert money into subsidies for crops for animal feed, allowing this massive machine of animal exploitation to continue operating undisturbed and without the public’s knowledge”.
The documentary has had a great impact so far, national newspapers and Italian television have also covered the film’s release. It has been shown in more than 500 Italian cinemas, as well as in screenings at universities and schools. “It was the first time that an independent documentary reached these levels and all thanks to the people and activists who support us”, said D’Ambrosi.
“We have already screened the film at the European Parliament, which was our premiere, and we will screen the film at the Italian Parliament. Last week we were the number one film in Italy in cinema occupancy rate. We will also screen the film at Yale, the University of Melbourne, in Barcelona and in many other European countries”.
This revealing documentary sheds light on the practices of the livestock industry in Europe and is generating a crucial debate about the environmental, ethical, and economic impact of industrial livestock farming on our society.
Thank you Giulia, Pablo, and the entire Food for Profit team for disseminating the truth and supporting the values of veganism for a future free of animal cruelty
The documentary “Food For Profit” is not only spreading in cinemas in Italy, but now it is coming to Barcelona.
This much-awaited screening will take place on April 11th at Cinemes Girona, offering the city’s viewers the opportunity to see this impactful cinematic work. At this event, attendees will have the chance to enjoy the presence of Giulia Innocenzi, Pablo D’Ambrosi, and Darko Perić.
