Complaint about the use of animals as entertainment at the Badalona International Magic Festival

The Badalona International Magic Festival, celebrating its 24th edition this year, is an event that promotes excitement and fun in the city. However, unfortunately, in the middle of this magical atmosphere, there are hidden practices that go against animal welfare. As Associació Vegana de Catalunya we denounce the use of animals in shows, a practice that, despite national regulations, still persists and is accepted in this type of event.

The participation of animals in shows like the International Festival of Magic is an archaic and cruel practice that must be abolished once and for all. Despite regulations prohibiting the use of wild animals, domestic animals continue to be exploited for entertainment. This reality highlights the lack of consideration for animal welfare in favor of economic interests and human entertainment.

National law, despite banning the use of wild animals, has been insufficient to protect all animals from exploitation in shows like this. A legislative change is necessary that absolutely prohibits the use of animals in any type of show or public entertainment. Animals are not objects of entertainment, but living beings with rights and needs that deserve respect and protection.

As the Vegan Association of Catalonia we call for awareness and action. It is imperative that society becomes aware of the suffering animals suffer in these types of shows and demands immediate change. Animal welfare must be an indisputable priority for all of society.

The Badalona International Magic Festival must be a place of fun and excitement without any kind of animal cruelty. We demand an end to shows involving animals and promote ethical entertainment that respects all living beings. As a society, we have a responsibility to defend the rights of animals and to actively work for a world free of animal cruelty and exploitation.
